Sea Daffodils (single bulb)

The Sea Daffodil (Pancratium maritimum) is a perennial monocot that grows from a bulb. Its dark green, strap-like leaves remain green throughout the winter months but may turn brown just as the flowers begin to open. Each stem, typically around 30 cm long, bears an umbel of three or more daffodil-shaped white flowers, which are usually 6 to 8 cm across and feature six pointed petals along with a white corolla. Surprisingly, these pure white flowers produce shiny black seeds, some of which can be found scattered around the plant for several months after the flowers have died back.
